Happy Thursday, everybody. Did you enjoy the long weekend? I spent time with my family, and it was great. Here’s what I’ve been thinking about since last week:
Illustrated stitching by Stephen Campbell
The English Muse featured Stephen Campbell earlier this month and I’m completely charmed by his illustrated embroidery. I think I like this one so much because it reminds me of a blanket my mom embroidered for me when I was a baby (it was covered in animals!). The simplicity, as usual, is what gets me.
Sharon Montrose’s Etsy shop and blog are filled with animal photos. And I want them all! It’s so interesting to see animals outside of their habitat. She photographs them all in front of this same white background, so they really pop. I’m not the least bit distracted by a plant or unusual shape; I just look at the subject. I think my favorites (beside the otter) are White Goose No. 4, Baby Deer, and Tortoise. Montrose also has large limited edition prints available at The Animal Print Shop (I just might have to make an investment one of these days).
It’s that time of year, isn’t it? People are graduating and counting down the days until summer starts. Eric Schwarz took this photo a few years ago, when these girls were graduating from high school. The bouquets, the summer dresses, the sidewalk in front of them as open as their futures – so sweet.
Congratulations to the class of 2009!
I’ve been enjoying this accoustic version of Lady Gaga’s Poker Face. She’s got a really interesting voice, which is much easier to focus on when the instrumentals are taken away. I love when she snaps! My favorite lyric:
A little gambling is fun when you’re with me
Russian Roulette is not the same without a gun
And baby when it’s love if it’s not rough it isn’t fun
Where have you found inspiration this week? I’d love to know!
Don’t forget to check back soon for some new designs! I’ll be back with more thoughts in a week. Thanks for visiting!
