heart made of origami cranes

Monday, March 8th, 2010

Recently, a woman saw my paper crane mobiles in my Etsy shop, and thought I might be able to help her with an idea. After learning a little more about what she had in mind, I decided to take the project.

::The Project::
This piece was commissioned as a wedding gift. It consists of red paper cranes attached to a high quality sheet of white paper in the shape of a heart.

working on: paper crane project

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

I’m working on a custom project that involves a lot of red paper cranes. I thought it would be fun to share this little sneak peek, since I’ve been spending so much time folding!

red cranes

I was contacted about making a heart out of paper cranes, and I thought it would be an interesting challenge. My client will be giving this piece as a wedding gift, so that’s pretty exciting! I’ll share more pictures when it’s complete.

Have you been working on any projects?

custom design: birthday card for google forums

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

I recently designed this birthday card for Google Forums. There is a forum for each of Google’s products so that users can get their questions answered and share their experiences using the product. This year marks the 1 year anniversary (or birthday) of a few of the forums. Google will be sending these cards to the users who have been the most helpful within the forums to say thank you.

Google Forums are used in countries around the world; we wanted to embrace that, so Happy Birthday! is featured in 25 languages. The pyramid in the center of the card is the Google Forums logo, which was designed at some point last year by another designer. I’m quite pleased with the way the design turned out, and it was certainly an exciting project!

The Details
★ Folded card
★ White envelope
★ Size A2 (4 ¼” x 5 ½”)
★ Printed locally on 100% recycled paper

Thanks Google! :)

custom wedding invitation: julie + tim

Monday, February 8th, 2010

A few months ago Julie contacted me about a custom wedding invitation. She provided all of the inspiration by telling me about her plans and showing me pictures of the bridesmaid dresses and the birch bark wedding cake that she and Tim had selected.

The invitation was accented with a birch tree and snowflakes, and a fern adorned the RSVP. The two pieces complimented each other and the wedding theme nicely.

I finished the invitations by gluing them to a green backing paper that matched the envelopes. I sent them to the couple tied with white satin ribbons.

Congratulations Julie and Tim! (They were married this past Friday.)

custom design: appointment postcards for dr. forman

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

I designed this appointment postcards for Dr. Forman, a local dentist. He had a very clear idea about what he wanted, and I enjoyed collaborating with him and making his vision come to life.

I made the dental floss swoop into a “smile” and I changed the buttons on the phone so they’d look like dental tools (toothpick, toothbrush, toothpaste, & dental mirror). I really like the gentle reminder on the back that you “better start flossing now.” Ha!

working on: damask pattern

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

Right now I’m working on a contact card (sometimes called a “mommy card”) for a client. She told me that she likes damask, so I’m working that into the design. I thought I’d give you a little taste.

pattern

Traditionally, damask is a woven fabric with patterns, so I looked at some fabric samples for inspiration.

I might use this pattern for a customizable contact/mommy card that will be available in my shop, as well.

custom design: logo & business card for blue eyed perspective

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

I recently designed these cards for Sara Potvin. She’s starting a new photography business, Blue Eyed Perspective, and needs business cards that reflect her style and personality.

I started with the logo design and then moved on to the the design of the card.

I used the front and back of the card to keep the card from feeling cluttered and to ensure that Sara’s contact information would be easy to read.

The Blue Eyed Perspective online shop and blog are coming soon!

personalized stationery: ellie

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

I had such fun with this design. Ellie is a newborn, and I worked with her mom, Maura, to create monogrammed stationery for her.

Maura liked the stationery I designed for Margot, so I used that as a jumping-off point.

She also knew that she wanted to use pink and navy blue in the monogram.

The cards measure 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ (A2).

We also printed a matching return address on the back flap of the envelopes (not shown).

Thank you Maura, it was a pleasure to work with you!
