i’m watching: freaks and geeks

I never watched Freaks and Geeks when it was actually on TV, but I decided to get the series from netflix. I still have 2 discs left to watch, and I can’t wait! This show is awkward and uncomfortable and completely hilarious. Sometimes I think the Freaks storyline is a tad tedious, but the Geeks have my…

i’m watching: marcel the shell with shoes on

I watched this video on Saturday morning, and I’ve been thinking about it ever since. It’s adorable + silly, and it makes me laugh. The voice (Jenny Slate) is so perfect; I can’t get over it. MARCEL THE SHELL WITH SHOES ON from Dean Fleischer-Camp on Vimeo. So I’m just gonna watch it a few…

listening to: the moth

I really like books on tape and, ideally, I’d listen to them most days. But I find that I either listen to the book OR do whatever I need to be doing. I don’t have that problem when I’m listening to music (or even watching most TV shows). So instead, I just read when I…

April, I used to listen to the moth quite a bit, though I haven’t checked back in awhile. I listen to a ton of podcasts though so I might be able to recommend a couple more for you to check out if you’re looking for something new:

- Radio Lab is a new favorite of mine, it’s similar to This American Life (another good one) in that it’s a bunch of stories/interviews around a theme
- TED Talks are video podcasts from the TED conference but they’re really awesome stories about amazing people
- Stuff You Should Know and Stuff You Missed in History class are both favorites of mine. They cover some really interesting topics and the hosts are fun
- I also listen to a lot of old-time radio podcasts. The Great Gildersleeve is a good one, it’s a comedy.

Let me know if you check out any of these.

Good choices, Justin! I’ll have to check out the ones I haven’t listened to yet. Can’t wait!

i’m watching: jenny by flight of the conchords

I’m not sure why, but I started humming this song yesterday afternoon, so I pulled it up on YouTube. I was still thinking about it this morning, so I just had to watch it again. I first saw this Flight of the Conchords video in 2006. Four years later, it’s still making me laugh. What makes…

I’m totally mourning the fact that the show’s over. “Business Time” is still one of the best songs ever written, hands down.

I never watched the show because I don’t get whatever channel it was on, but “Business Time” will always hold a special place in my heart. :)
