My weekly inspiration post, Lost in Thoughts, is getting revamped this week. In the past, the format has been three images plus a song or video. It turns out, it takes me a really long time to put those posts together, so I’m going to change it up a bit and share only one image,…

This week I’m focusing on design inspired by books. I’ve written about books before; I just love books so much! Penguin Books espresso mugs These espresso mugs aren’t based on the content of the books, but rather on the classic Penguin book covers that are so recognizable. You know I love that little orange one! (via dress,…

I’ve been thinking about ways to keep better track of my custom projects and goals. I decided that a chalkboard would do the trick. At first I thought I’d just buy some chalkboard paint and paint a piece of wood. Then I found this tutorial from Martha Stewart with step-by-step instructions for making your own…

wow—I like the lost in thoughts section—but AbrilMayo—PLEASE get rid of this captcha thing—I have to do it so many times to get it right. What is that thing for????
I must keep the captcha thing – it keeps out SPAM comments. Sorry!
Thanks for the mention and to everyone who visits my blog.
Your flowers are lovely!

I hand-line envelopes for some of my cards. It’s not a challenging task, but it does require time and patience. I spent the morning making liners, and I photographed each step so that I could share the process with you! {Step 1} Paper Selection I use wrapping paper, but most thin papers will work. Since…

great tutorial. question, does the glue stick work well for you? i tried it once and it made the thin wrapping paper wrinkle…
Thanks, Mary.
The glue stick does work for me, but the wrapping paper I’ve been using is a little thicker than your average wrapping paper. Some glue sticks are wetter (not sure if that’s the correct terminology, lol) than others, so it might be worth it to experiment with a few brands or use a more substantial paper. The only other thing I can think of would be to use double-sided tape, but I’m not sure how that would look since I’ve never tried it. Good luck!

You’re so right. Cards, notes and hand-written letters are so different from email. I wrote a letter a coupe of weeks ago to a very long time friend in California. One of my treasures, is the pile of letters that I’ve saved from family over the years (decades, but who’s counting). The handwritten letter is a treasured reflection of the author. Printed emails don’t have the same impact.
i save letters + cards from my family + friends too!
I try to write a letter every single week. I’ve been doing this since August. Friends think when I’m asking for their address, it’s just for the Christmas card list or some invitation I might be sending out or just to have. They’re pretty surprised when I send a letter which usually is at least 3 pages small
(on small stationery). I highly suggest trying to write snail mail at least once a week!
Oh my gosh, May! That is so awesome!!
