A few weeks ago Anna Lappé’s office contacted me about designing some business cards for her.
They wanted to feature her new book, Diet for a Hot Planet, on the back of the card, and I tried to keep her brand consistent by making the text the same green that’s used on her website.
Anna is a founding principal of The Small Planet Institute, which has a location right here in Cambridge, MA!
A few months ago Julie contacted me about a custom wedding invitation. She provided all of the inspiration by telling me about her plans and showing me pictures of the bridesmaid dresses and the birch bark wedding cake that she and Tim had selected.
The invitation was accented with a birch tree and snowflakes, and a fern adorned the RSVP. The two pieces complimented each other and the wedding theme nicely.
I finished the invitations by gluing them to a green backing paper that matched the envelopes. I sent them to the couple tied with white satin ribbons.
Congratulations Julie and Tim! (They were married this past Friday.)
Normally I wouldn’t consider hanging an animal head on my wall because I’d be creeped out, but this felt moose is another story! Cute, soft and friendly, I can see this little guy making a nice office companion. I’m particularly fond of the green heart.
I really like these boutonnieres. They’re delicate, but lasting, since they’re made of fabric flowers. They seem like a great, affordable option that can be kept as a souvenir after the fact!
Birds + orange = love (right?). You’ve noticed how much I like birds, haven’t you? I have a Little Miss Birdercollection, so I guess it’s a bit of an obsession. And these sweet cutouts in orange patterns? Oh goodness; I’d wear this weekly (daily?)!
I was introduced to Pomplamoose’s VideoSongs when I saw their Single Ladies cover (it’s great). I wanted more, so I watched some of their other videos and grabbed some free downloads from their MySpace page. According to their description,
A VideoSong is a new Medium with two rules:
1. What you see is what you hear (no lip-syncing for instruments or voice).
2. If you hear it, at some point you see it (no hidden sounds).
I’ve been enjoying them for the past few weeks, and I especially like this cover of Edith Piaf’s La Vie en Rose. I’ll be humming it all day long.
Today’s question: Did you make anything this week? Do you have a DIY project planned for the weekend?

Lost In Thoughts is a weekly series. I started this feature because I’m inspired by the amazing things I see on blogs and Etsy, and by family, friends, readers’ comments, and life. I don’t want to keep all of these wonderful finds to myself, so I gather them together on Thursdays to share with you.
This card playfully reminds us of the popular game duck duck goose!
On the front you’ll find two ducks on a green background. Then inside – surprise – a goose!
It’s a fun card that’s fitting for all sorts of occasions. You can use it to send thank yous, happy birthdays, congrats, and anything else you can think of. There’s plenty of space to write a note to that special someone.
The cards measure 3 1/2″ x 4 7/8″ (4 bar). The set of 8 cards and white envelopes comes tied with twine.
Blank inside (except for the goose!). Printed on 100% recycled paper.
I’m excited to have another set of cards featuring cranes! (Check out the first here.) So pretty.
I made this set because I adore paper cranes. I’ve been making them since 4th grade.
The front of the card features 25 origami cranes in different shades of blue.
Inside, red text in the upper right corner reads: Peace.
There is a small, white, folded paper crane attached to each card with a strip of blue paper. It’s a little added surprise for the person receiving the card! There’s also a larger paper crane included with the set, so you have one to keep, too. To open cranes, lightly tug the wings.
Each folded card measures 3 1/2″ x 4 7/8″ (4 bar) and is printed on 100% recycled paper. This set of 8 comes bundled with white envelopes that are hand-lined with robin’s egg blue paper and secured with twine.
Hey there! I’ve been cruising the blogs and finding new sources of inspiration; I hope you have as much fun with these finds as I’m having. I’ve got blue & green hues, animals, and a wacky rap remix for you today.
Multiple strands! Bright blue beading! Asymmetric detail! Swoon! You better believe I’d wear this! If only it wasn’t sold out! This is not the only completely gorgeous piece of jewelry by Elva Fields, so have fun browsing!
(Too many exclamation points in this section? Nah!)
You guys! You know how much I like origami. Can you even believe these are tea bags? They’re so pretty, a glass mug is a must. They’re designed by a Russian named Natalia Ponomareva, and I don’t think they’re available in the US yet. [via Sub-Studio Design Blog]
I grew up close to farms, and I have a real soft spot for farm animals. Cows, horses, goats, and of course sheep. The muted tones in this photo are really lovely. You can find this in the Candara Design Etsy shop. [via CraftGawker]
I find infomercials completely intriguing. Generally, it’s a weird idea squished into its own 30 second slot, and the traditional pitchman is really intense. Here, DJStevePorter has remixed a Slap Chop infomercial and made a super-catchy rap. “Slappin’ your troubles away.” [via Justin Dickinson]
What have you found this week? (Are you still humming the Slap Chop rap? I am.)
