What? It’s already Thursday? Guess I better round up some fun stuff for you! Enjoy!

Little Toy Boat Necklace from yellowgoat’s Etsy shop

I could just jump right into this little sail boat and drift away into dreamland. Designs like this are just begging for a story to go along with them. I like that.

Mad Hatter’s tea party wood-engraving by Thomas Dalziel

I’m designing a bridal shower invitation for a gathering with a tea party theme, so I’ve got tea parties on the brain. Not such a bad thing to be obsessing about, if you ask me! Have you ever been to a tea party? They’re such fun.

Aviary Castle from Anthropologie

What a gorgeous bird cage! I’m sorta doubting that anybody would use it to house birds, but it would certainly add to the decor. I like the rough yet delicate lines and curves.

dancers from Michael McCabe on Vimeo.

These girls are so focused; you can practically see them learning and making improvements to their movements. That’s pretty cool.

Today’s question: What do you enjoy doing in your free time? Do you have free time?

I enjoy cooking, watching classic movies, photography, skiing, and spending time with my friends and family. Reading, too. There’s more, but that’s what I’m thinking of now.

*There’s still time to get Valentines. Check my shop for availability.

Lost In Thoughts is a weekly series. I started this feature because I’m inspired by the amazing things I see on blogs and Etsy, and by family, friends, readers’ comments, and life. I don’t want to keep all of these wonderful finds to myself, so I gather them together on Thursdays to share with you.

Hi there and hello. Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you find something of interest!

#45 January 6 by Melissa Morris

In 2009 Melissa Morris decided to create 160 art journal pages by the end of the year. She didn’t quite make it, but this year she’s decided to pick up the project where she left off (page 43). Yipee! So far, I’m really enjoying her drawings and the commentary that accompanies each one. Watch her progress on her blog 160 Pages: A Journey Through Journaling.  Melissa also authors the blog Operation Nice.

This is a clever bookmark. Very cute. I read a lot, but I just use free bookmarks that I get from the library or bookstore. They work just fine, but this one would ad a little more fun to the day.

Savannah Story Bust, Gazelle from Anthropologie

Last week, Jennifer Hill tweeted about these amazing animal busts. I’m so glad she did, because this gazelle is just wonderful. I can’t get over it! This little guy is officially on my wishlist.

I. Love. This. Song. Emphasis completely necessary. I really like to make a fool of myself and dance to it (usually alone) by slowly swinging my arms in the air above my head in time to the music. Yeah, it’s a pretty dorky move, but it’s really fun. I urge you to give it a try while you take a listen. For the sake of your reputation, you may want to make sure nobody’s watching if you do decide to give my sweet dance move a test run.

Today’s question: What book(s) are you reading? What’s on your reading list? I started wondering when I realized that all of today’s images involve printed words.

I just finished reading Bel Canto. I read late into the night because I couldn’t put it down, and I’m still thinking about the story (almost 2 weeks later). It’s about a long-term hostage situation and unexpected bonds form between the captives and the terrorists.

Hello and welcome! It’s inspiration time again.

Characters for an Epic Tale by Tom GauldCharacters for an Epic Tale by Tom Gauld

My mom directed me to this amazing print by Tom Gauld. His drawings are delightful and his assessment of the characters necessary for an epic tale is quite accurate. Unfortunately, this print was a limited edition that sold out quickly. But that doesn’t stop me from imagining it on my wall!

picture keyboard by chris delorenzopicture keyboard by chris delorenzo

This keyboard sticker set is awesome! Each picture starts with the letter it represents (airplane for A), and the pictures are wonderful. What a great way to spice up a regular old (or even new) computer.

How charming! I’m fascinated by intricate paper cutouts, and this one is quite nice. The patience and attention to detail involved in these creations is beyond me. I’m not sure who the artist or photographer is, but I found the image at Bad Romance.

I’m always up for some fun animation and a foot-tapping beat. This Hot Lips music video meets my requirements. My favorite part of the song goes like this:

I wanna be you
To see what you is like
To feel how it feels
To be kissed by love

Today’s questions: Do you prefer dogs or cats? Some other animal? I’m a dog person. I just love them! I don’t have one now because I live in an apartment without a yard, but I get to see my family’s dog whenever I go home for a visit!

Wow, it’s hard to believe it’s already Thursday again. It really sneaks up on me when we have a Monday holiday! How about you?

Let’s jump right into this week’s inspirations, shall we?

"non" by garance doré“non” by Garance Doré

This charming illustration is by Garance Doré, and can be found on her blog. What a brilliant use of color. Doré is French, but her site has an English version (lucky us!). Her blog features her gorgeous illustrations and photography with a clear focus on fashion.

cassette tape soap by stinkybomb
cassette tape soap by stinkybomb

Take a (very clean) trip back to the 80s with these awesome cassette tape soaps, which are available in Stinkybomb’s Etsy shop! I think the neon colors really add to the retro vibe, don’t you? According to the listing, the soap is made from the mold of an actual cassette tape. Gotta love the authenticity!

cotton elephants from townhousecotton elephants from Townhouse

Awww. I want one! These lovable elephants are “handsewn in Switzerland by mentally handicapped people…[and] support their rehabilitation.” The Townhouse e-shop ships worldwide, so I’ll be expecting one of these little guys come the holiday season (just kidding!).

As you may know, I adore Ingrid Michaelson. I’m including this video because my sister and I are going to see her live this Saturday at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston. I’m super excited, and of course I’ve been listening to her new album on repeat in preparation. It’s no surprise that I’m a fan of “Maybe,” and I especially like the part that goes

I still feel you on the right side of the bed
And I still feel you in the blankets pulled over my head
But I’m gonna wash away, oh I’m gonna wash away everything til you come home to me

If you find yourself falling in love with her music the way I have, you may want to check her out on twitter.

Comments are open for you to share your thoughts and tell me about your recent inspirations.

If you’ve been keeping up with the blog, you know that I’ve officially added all of my newest designs to my blog, collections, and Etsy shop. I’m very excited about the new designs, and I hope you are too! Let me know what you think and what you’d like to see.

Lost In Thoughts will be back next week!
